A new Ed Sheeran album and the new collab between Fred again.. and Brian Eno. The Smashing Pumpkins put out a 3 act rock opera?
The first edition of new music friday here. Each week I’ll post what I’ve found to be the most interesting tracks out each Friday. This week brings a new Ed Sheeran album, the collaboration between Fred Again.. and Brian Eno, and The Smashing Pumpkins did a rock opera…? At the end of the list I added a few recent new releases that I’ve been enjoying the last few weeks.
Two incredibly interesting electronic artists coming together to make an album. From a Fred again.. perspective this feels like The Chainsmokers Lo-fi remixes. I'm really into this collab.
Ed Sheeran is out with a new album today, and this track brings more of his personal side. He kicked off the last album with Tides, and you could feel the emotion not only in the lyrics but the music as well. End Of Youth is picking up right where Tides left off. His talent is incredible.
The beat on this track is awesome. Fast paced and catchy.
This song is real catchy and has some awesome beats. A good blend of pop and electronic.
Chet Faker has been bringing some amazing funk inspired electronic music and this is no different. The raw vocals accompanied by electronic funk is an amazing combo.
When you've had a career like The Smashing Pumpkins what's left to do? This sound is honestly impressive and there's 3 discs of music here. There's a whole story to the music, it is a pretty elaborate production. After all, this is billed as a rock opera in three acts.
The tracks below are not new this week but are some of my favorites from recent weeks.
This track has been in my heavy rotation, kind of reminds me of a grunge/shoegaze inspired emo song.
This band has some incredible range. This is a slightly edgy pop track, highly recommend exploring their other music too.
Feel like this is one of those you love or hate. I happen to love it. It is pretty mellow Drake, but in that catchy way that Drake masters.
This one has a good beat and the tik toks for this track are hilarious.
